Its really a controversial topic to talk about pirs. In our country many educated people have faith on the rubibsh some phony pirs claim. There may be good pirs still exist but most of the pirs i have found unreliable. They live a lavish life but suck away money even from a poor man. They do not teach  islam properly only follow some of their invented rituals. Even some of them claim that they do not need to pray as well as their followers. Some even order not to read the holly Quran or any book of Hadith. But still They get plenty of admirers.  Why people have faith on them ? I do not understand.

Apart from this their are some genuin pirs. I am not talking about them.  They usually try not to expose themselves.

I dont want to hurt any of the members, i simply want to know why people have faith on the phony pirs when their talkings clearly disagree with the Quran and hadiths.
IMHO, the whole idea about pirs kinda oppose some of the main themes of Islam.. I see people going to pirs to get their personal problems/illness etc solved/cured.. So do those people think the pir is capable of solving those problems/illness..

it's surprising how many rich (and often highly educated) people spend fortunes on these pirs.. Has any one seen television advertisements of Pir Sayeed Shaheb? This guy lives in UK and has his tv ads broadcasted in North America.. if he were a genuin pir, he wouldn't have to telecast his name for publicity/income!
