Most fundamentalists have inferiority complex inside them because no matter how many degrees you have from madrasas and islamic academic institutions, you are still a mere fundamentalist. They are just mere mollas. Poverty and fundamentalism are very closely tied. Imagine you are born in a very poor family, your family can barely afford to live, you could never look at your fathers eyes fearing he will get angry and beat you, you are studying in a madrasha because its free and you can stay and eat for little or no expense. At the end of the day you also know that this education wont bring a good job offer in your pocket and you will always be molla because of your background and dress up. You dont know what to do because you hardly asses situations because most of the times you never had the option to choose. At the end of the day if you do not become a fraud all you have left is your faith on allah and hatred on the society. Your faith becomes anger when you see people critisizing the only thing you think is pure. You actually do not know that understanding Islam requires a lot of knowledge and effort. Most teachers in madrasas are just doing the job for a living and have inadequate knowledge. They concentrate only on the rituals rather than the philosophy behind the ritual. They teach you that enemies of Islam must be destroyed at all cost. One day a man comes to you gives an option which YOU THINK will give you the opportunity to go to heaven. You realise that people will always comment on Islam and fundamentalism. Journalists will talk about human rights, female rights, fundamentalism, religious critisims but no one will point out your abused childhood. No one will talk about the hopeless life you are enduring. People will talk about the damage caused by your suicide bomb but no one will want to know why you are so willing to end your life. You heard about Jihad so many times every day, you are hypnotised....... you cannot say no to the only belief you hold. There are so many in similar situations, poeple will hardly feel your absense. You think what you are doing is Jihad and you dont want to think more. You just want to escape this life. Its not that you cannot eat or sleep well. Its just you are supposed to be an alim( scholar) but you feel you are becoming a burden to the society. Maybe a farmer is poorer but he does not have so many thoughts hammering his head. So........... you tell that man you are willing to do anything for Islam hoping to have a free ticket to heaven.
