-:Insight of a Muslim Judge:-

A man came to Iyas Ibn Mu'awiyah, a Muslim judge famous for his wisdom and the following conversation took place between them:

Man: What is the Islamic ruling regarding wine?

Judge: It is Haram (Forbidden).

Man: How about water?

Judge: It is Halal (Permissible).

Man: How about dates and grapes?

Judge: They are Halal.

Man: Why is it that all these ingredients are halal, and yet when you combine them, they become haram?

The judge looked at the man and said: If I hit you with this handful of dirt, do you think it would hurt you?

Man: It would not.

Judge: How about if I hit you with this handful of straw?

Man: It would not hurt me.

Judge: How about a handful of water?

Man: It surely would not hurt me.

Judge: How about if I MIX them, and let them DRY to become a BRICK, and then hit you with it, would it hurt you?

Man: It would hurt me and might even kill me!

Judge: The same reasoning applies to what you asked me!!
nice reading...
thts a really cool reply
Well thought out reply.
is beer halal or haram?
Assalam.

Any intoxicant is HARAM.
Be it in liquid form, solid or gas. No matter what they are made from or how they are used. If it intoxicates, then it is no good.

The brother has asked about beer, to my knowladge, it contains about 3% to 5% of alcohol. Non the less, if you want to see effects of beer on people, see how a beer drunk person responds when something that offends him.

While we are on the topic of Alcohol (intoxicants) lets have a look at what Quraan says:

Al-Baqarah Ayah [219]

They ask you (O Muhammad ) concerning alcoholic drink and gambling. Say: "In them is a great sin, and (some) benefit for men, but the sin of them is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they ought to spend. Say: "That which is beyond your needs." Thus Allah makes clear to you His Laws in order that you may give thought."

Well, as we know, there is benefit in buying and selling of intoxicants. Some temporary fun (if you can call them that).
On the other hands, how many people die using intoxicants?
How many broken families? Careers down the drain. Violent criminal behaviour, people doing things that he/she would not have done when sober. Few seconds of thought and I'm sure you can extend the list.

Surah - Al-Ma'idah, Ayah [90]
O you who believe! Intoxicants (all kinds of alcoholic drinks), gambling, AlAnsab , and AlAzlam (arrows for seeking luck or decision) are an abomination of Shaitan's (Satan) handiwork. So avoid (strictly all) that (abomination) in order that you may be successful .

As mentioned earlier, people are not in their best behaviour when intoxicated. Also note, how many people are lowered to disgraceful acts, just to support their habbits of intoxication. Begging, stealing, extorting, robbing, prostitution, need I continue......

The answer:

Surah

Al-Ma'idah - Ayah [91]
Shaitan (Satan) wants only to excite enmity and hatred between you with intoxicants (alcoholic drinks) and gambling, and hinder you from the remembrance of Allah and from As-Salat (the prayer). So, will you not then abstain?

Yes, the answer is that simple. Abstain. People want to drink, shops are full of all different kinds of tasty drinks, which are non alcoholic. People want to have fun, there are thousands of fun activities to do, why hamper their thinking capacity or poison their system with toxic stuff.

Why?

Well the above verses already told us why.
arctic_cyclone thanks for sharing....... it is soooooo true.
