The history of Bangladeshi photography would be incomplete if the contemporary photographers try to exclude Beg’s crucial role in the development of this craft in the country.

Yes folks, today I\'m going to talk about Mr. Manzurul Alam Beg, better known as M. A. Beg.

Born in 1931 in Rajshahi, Manzurul Alam Beg was interested in photography and photographic technology since his childhood days. Actively interested in pursuing photography as a career, he took photography courses at home and abroad. To satisfy his thrust for knowledge, he not only had a diploma in photography from the British Institute of Reproductive Technology in 1976, but also took trainings in art, microfilming, and document reproduction.

In 1960, M. A. Beg founded the first training centre for photography in Bangladesh called the Beg Art Institute of Photography, which is considered a landmark in the history of Bangladeshi photography. He was also the convenor of the Bangladesh Photographic Society (BPS). After winning the honour of FAPD (the highest honour in photography) at the first international conference held in Calcutta in 1982, M. A. Beg received recognition as one of the 11 best photographers in the world for that year. With all the other honorary awards and achievements, he was also honoured with the title of FBPS in 1983, the highest honour of photography in Bangladesh.

Beg wrote a number of books on photography, among which ‘Adhunik Photography’, ‘Photography Formula’ and ‘Dark Room Solution’ are notable.

This famous photographer has passed away in Dhaka in 1998.

Sorry guys, but I didn\'t find any picture taken by him on the net, except a photo of himself. If I find anything in future I\'ll post it here for you all.
