Started as an attempted band, The Watson Brothers (TWB) turned into a fully grown band in a few years and finally came up with their debut album titled “Ohom”. With mixture of pure alternative, hard rock & blues, the album contains 10 songs and compositions.
There is no doubt about it. TWB is extremely talented. Shakib and Farhan are also members of Cryptic Fate, one of the frontier bands of Dhaka Underground Music and Arafat and Imran can be termed as “peerless” in the respective field. And they used every inch of their creativity to compose the tracks in the album. The 10 tracks of the album have a similar rhythm and atmosphere to it which really makes the album quite different from others. Following the tradition of alternative, TWB made it sure the listeners are really getting something different. The whole album has a feel good rhythm to it which makes you listen to it several times. Now that’s an achievement. Shakib provides passionate vocals in all the tracks which really take listeners deep into the song. Arafat and Imran (rhythm) provides a steady performance and their works always fade in the background. Farhan’s bass work is Breath-Taking to say the least, maybe because of the feel-good tunes. John and Tahsan really showed their class in the 2 songs they were featured.
TWB really surprised me with their compositions.I never thought Black’s album was an alternative one. But I had no album to compare with because all the other albums were mainly rock, until “Ohom”. Ohom’s effect might not be witnessed in the short run but it will in the future. I’m sure that this album will be a benchmark for upcoming alternative bands. Lots of variations in the lyrics and compositions prove that TWB really knows their alternatives. For a band which in basically “a new kid in the block”, it seemed to me that I was listening to Peral Jam or R.E.M. in Bangla. Great! What TWB needs to do is continue experimenting; after all it started as a project.
Overall, hats off to TWB for bringing a new dimension to our ever expanding Underground Music.
Now... Im A Huge Fan of TWB as well as CF. So.... if U hav listend to thm... Plz..Post ur opinions.... share som views... if U really think they R worth it.
