Dr. Hafiz G. A. Siddiqi, Vice Chancellor of NSU, received the Atish Dipankar Award for significant contribution to higher education. President Prof. Dr. Iajuddin Ahmed presented the awards at a local hotel on 12 Oct. 2004.
Dr. Siddiqi received Masters of Public and International Affairs Degree in 1966 and MBA in 1969 from prestigious US Universities, and Ph.D. from University of Manchester Business School, UK in 1977. He is a pioneer in Business Education in the country and was the director of Institute of Business Administration at Dhaka University. He has over 35 years of teaching and research experience in addition to international consultancy.
Dr. Siddiqi taught at Ohio State University, Columbus, USA and Minnesota State University, Mankato, USA for 8 years before joining NSU in 1993. He was a professor, Chief Academic Coordinator and Dean of Business school. Since April 1998, he served as the Pro. VC. He was appointed as the Vice Chancellor in January 2003. He is an international advisor to sea to Sky Foundation, founder of the first private university in Canada.
Prof. najma Siddiqi, his wife, is a former Chairman of Philosophy Department, Jahangirnagar University. His daughter, Dr. Dina Siddiqi, teaches at Columbia University, New York. His son, Dr. Asif Siddiqi, is a Contract Historian at NASA and a Research Fellow at harvard University.
Dr. Siddiqi is the author of several books and research articles. The Atish Dipankar award is the recognition of many years of devoted service to Higher learning, including private higher education in Bangladesh.
