Panic!
I turned back once again to see whether anyone was there or not. Just like the first time, I saw no one was behind me; the stone walls seemed lifeless… Everything seemed to be dead but why do I keep feeling that someone was following me?
“Hey… get up naa, I can’t wait any more. The guys are waiting for us.”
“What’s the rush? Please give me five more minutes…you are my best friend Saniya, you just cannot do this to me!”
“No!”
“Ok…two minutes.”
Splash! And in no time I was all wet… I ran towards Saniya leaving the wet blanket behind. She opened the door and I was shocked because both Safir and Arif were standing outside the door.
“So that’s how you get ready…huh?” Safir smirked at me.
I shut the door at their face and got freshened up. In five minutes I came down to the dining hall. Everyone was laughing at me. I did not say a thing and joined them. After finishing our breakfast, we planned to go out and roam around. We reached the hill-tracks of Chittagong last night and did not have a chance to see the area at night it was too dark. We stayed at our friend – Raihan’s bungalow who accompanied us from all the from Sylhet and now he became our official guide and of course our local guardian.
As it was the first week of December and in a mountainous area, the weather was quiet cold. We went out wearing woolen sweaters and overalls. Raihan showed us the garden around his bungalow at first then took us to show some caves. After walking for about twenty minutes we discovered that neither there were any caves in sight nor there was any mountain. We stared at Raihan with strong disbelief and told him to take us back. This time Raihan confessed that he knew little about this area and he had also forgotten the way back to the bungalow.
We could not even get angry with Raihan because it was our fault that we depended on him. We headed backwards. After ten minutes or so, Raihan said that it was not the route towards his bungalow. We did not want to rely on Raihan once again so we continued to walk on the same track. Raihan kept arguing and in return Arif gave him a ‘cool’ shout.
We reached a junction of two paths. Now Safir confirmed that it was not the way we had came from the bungalow. Raihan got chance and started scolding us. Before long we found ourselves standing in front of three mountains, each was carpeted with green grass along with small bushes, shrubs with multi-colored flowers. At once we posed for taking pictures. All of a sudden I heard someone screaming for help from amidst of the mountains. There was not a single cave on the side of the mountain that faced us.
We were all scattered, looking for the source of the cry. While I was passing a huge rock covered with green slime and was looking like a part of the mountains. I looked carefully and once again heard the sympathetic tone…this time much clearly. I pushed the rock. It did not move. I called the gang and we all tried to move t. After giving tremendous effort we moved the rock.
A rusty staircase was seen.
And then again we heard the scream. With out giving us a single minute to think, Safir started climbing down the stairs. We followed him though through dark at first but we could see barely later.
We reached the ground. A lighted torch was on the floor. We took it and moved. We found an entrance to a cave. Just after entering the cave I had goose pimples though I was wrapped in warm clothes. I started having the feeling that someone was following us.
I turned back once again to see whether anyone was there or not. Just like the first time, I saw no one was behind me; the stone walls seemed lifeless… Everything seemed to be dead but why do I keep feeling that someone was following me?
The torchlight grew dimmer…darkness was gulping us. At that moment we found an old man lying on the ground…his legs were covered with blood. He was senseless. We carried him to the hospital.
And this is not the end of our story folks! Better say it is the beginning because that old man gave us a map for TREASURE HUNTING!
